SOPA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

This little one is one of the 5 siblings that arrived with our family from an confiscation at a house where over 50 dogs had been crammed for much longer than 50 years in terrible conditions. The world opened up the day we rescued Sopar and her siblings from that situation. When they arrived at the animal shelter, they were completely disoriented and lost, not knowing the touch of people, let alone a caress. Over time, SOPA has evolved a lot, now she recognizes us and slowly approaches us, beginning to enjoy caresses and treats, but she is still very wary of strangers, relying a lot on her companions. She has made great progress in learning to walk on a leash and harness and to enjoy walks, which greatly relaxes her. With her companions, she is very good. She has been dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for Leishmania and 4dx (Heartworm disease, Ehrlichiosis -Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis), spayed, with a passport, and adoption contract.

About SOPA

What life with SOPA looks like

SOPA is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting SOPA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SOPA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SOPA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SOPA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SOPA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SOPA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ACUNR - Animales Con Un Nuevo Rumbo early rather than rehoming privately; they know SOPA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
