Adopt Sorina

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Dog's name: Sorina. Breed: Livestock Guardian Dog mix. Gender: female/spayed. Age: born August 2015. Size/Weight: about 40kg. In the animal shelter since: 05.05.2022. Special characteristics: Sorina was born in August 2015 and is a very special female dog. Those who know her understand that beneath her imposing exterior lies a true treasure. With her trusted people, Sorina is incredibly affectionate, cuddly, playful, and full of charm – a loyal female dog with a sense of humor who knows exactly whom she lets into her heart. True to her breed, Sorina is territorial and watchful. Strangers? Initially suspicious. But with calm, clear leadership and a bit of time, she can be well-introduced to new situations and people – one just needs to take her seriously and let her set the pace. Sorina is familiar with car rides, can stay alone, and shows herself to be quite relaxed in everyday life – as long as her personal space is respected. Due to arthritis, she takes a tablet once a day, which she accepts without issue and tolerates well. Other dogs, children, or small animals are not part of her circle of friends – she is looking for a home that will be hers alone. Sorina reacts very sensitively to gunshots, thunder, or similar noises, so her future home should be in a quiet area. For Sorina, we wish for a dog-experienced home with a securely fenced property, without constant visitors, and with people who not only know but also appreciate Livestock Guardian Dogs.

About Sorina

What life with Sorina looks like

Sorina is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sorina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sorina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sorina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sorina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sorina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sorina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sorina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
