adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Spark has found a home! His story: This charming puppy is on the lookout for his "forever home"! The little Spark (German: "Funke") is waiting in the public shelter for you. Spark is a very sweet 2-year-old male dog who melts hearts with his cuteness. Spark stands about 55 cm tall and is of medium size. Spark gets along well with his fellow animals and shares his pen with another male dog. Unfortunately, he is quite shy around people. One can see that he is curious and when you join him and his buddies in the pen, he always takes a step closer, but he still hasn't fully trusted us yet. For this reason, we can imagine that a confident single dog in a family would greatly help him. Life in the house will be completely new for Spark. House training, basic commands, putting on a harness, walking on a leash – all of this must be learned. We are looking for empathetic and patient people for Spark who will teach him the dog ABC in peace and give him an appropriate life. A foster home would also be a great stepping stone for Spark. Children in the new home should be stable and already know how to handle dogs. Whether Spark gets along with cats, we unfortunately cannot test at the shelter. Spark is probably currently in the exhausting phase of puberty. He will put his family's patience to the test. During this time, it is especially important to consistently but lovingly raise him. We also recommend attending a positively working dog training class for this. Does the spark jump for you and do you fall in love with our sweet treasure? Spark travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home or foster home. His EU pet passport comes with him and he will be transferred after a positive assessment. Also a foster home would greatly help him! Thank you, dear Payel B.! You gave Spark his beautiful name and opened the way to a happy life for him. Status: 13.02.

Stand: 13.02.2024

About Spark

What life with Spark looks like

Spark is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spark, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spark?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spark on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spark if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spark already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spark isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spark and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
