SpÄTzle

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process SpÄTzle can stay forever! His story: Bistrita, Romania. SpÄTzle is a very special dog who touches you right away. With big eyes, he looks at you and seems to be asking why he still has to be here at this inhospitable place. The sensitive male dog therefore also searches for very special people who understand him and can offer him peace, time, and understanding until he has relearned the dog world. SpÄTzle does not want to be in his cramped yard. In the cold and wet shelter in Romania, between all the noisy yard neighbors… Unfortunately, sensitive dogs have it especially hard to be seen and to win their ticket to happiness. The beautiful SpÄTzle, with the great tricolor fur pattern, is about 3.5 years old and is approximately 55 cm tall. With his fellow animals, he gets along well. Towards people, he is still very reserved and cautious. SpÄTzle is looking for an experienced home where he can take the time he needs to adapt to his "new world." He has neither a home nor a family and must learn that a better future awaits him. We are sure that he will thaw out in a quiet environment and become an approachable dog who wants to enjoy his life and make up for everything he has been missing so far. During our visit in October, he warmed up more and became more approachable. With a bit of time and patience, he will surely become a great companion. SpÄTzle is an active and young male dog who also looks forward to beautiful walks, hikes, or other dog sports and also likes to be mentally challenged. SpÄTzle wishes for a quiet home, preferably rural, with enough opportunities for retreat if it gets too restless. He should always be able to decide what is doable for him or not.

An diesem unwirtlichen Ort.

About SpÄTzle

What life with SpÄTzle looks like

SpÄTzle is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting SpÄTzle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SpÄTzle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SpÄTzle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SpÄTzle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SpÄTzle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SpÄTzle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know SpÄTzle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
