Adopt Speedy

Male · Adult · 8 years

Speedy is a beautiful stafford of 8 years old. He came to us due to family circumstances. Unfortunately, these circumstances made it no longer possible to care for Speedy. Speedy is used to living both during the day and at night inside. At night he slept on the couch but also dared to sleep in bed sometimes. He regularly came into contact with the grandchildren and it went well. Speedy is not car sick. He was alone at home for an average of 4 hours per day and this went easily. He is housebroken and does not chew anything anymore. Speedy was described as a real softie, a slob, a cuddle bottom, a great character. We have already enjoyed this! Now Speedy is looking for his golden bed. He does not get along with other animals. Speedy is therefore looking for a place where he is the king of the house. He can be placed with children from 16 years old who are already able to properly handle a dog. He will only be placed with people where he may fully be part of the family. Who can give him this golden bed?

About Speedy

What life with Speedy looks like

Speedy is a adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus in Aalst.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Speedy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Speedy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Speedy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Speedy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Speedy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Speedy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Sint-Hubertus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Speedy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
