Spider

Mixed Breed · Unknown · 2 years

The breeding station in Kispest was so scared that sometimes it would even run away when Spider arrived. This has completely changed now; it leads this energy on a leash. But when given a firm command, it stops (otherwise it would easily chew it). It often comes towards the person by itself. When it's close enough, it can be lifted and held in arms, at which point it completely calms down. This shows that a true cuddler is lost within it, just still quite deep. It especially likes and needs the company of other dogs. Therefore, it would gladly move to a playful but patient dog yard. We recommend it to a patient and consistent owner. Where there are no children in the family.

Ettől függetlenül egyedüli kutyának is örökbefogadható.

About Spider

What life with Spider looks like

Spider is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient, experienced owner due to fear-based behaviors from puppy mill background

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spider, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spider?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spider on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spider if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Spider already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spider isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spider and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
