Spider

Mixed Breed · Male

Small, at knee level, balanced, very gentle and friendly dog - in a few words you can introduce him "quickly". When Spider came to us, we saw a picture of a neglected and terribly infested dog. Spider's neck was completely "decorated" with large ticks the size of peas ☹ Spider showed great patience when we removed them one by one. Because of this, we took him to the vet, where he turned out to be a model patient: calm, balanced, allowing examination without panicking. Injections or ultrasounds are procedures that Spider undergoes without problems. Riding in a car needs to be refined by a new caregiver, because obviously Spider did not ride in a car before. On the trip he is restless, doesn't notice the speed. He definitely needs support from a person then. The first walk outside the animal shelter for Spider was very successful. He had no problem being dressed in a harness. Outside the animal shelter, he was absorbed by the world of smells. He was very focused on what was squeaking in the grass, but did not forget that a person was right next to him. On a leash, Spider walks excellently. He is very bold, but not exhausting. He ignores dogs passing by the fence, and those he meets on his way he observes with curiosity. He does not run towards them, does not bark, can encourage play. He beautifully reads the signals that his dog friends send him. He definitely prefers the company of female dog, but in relation to dogs he is also non-confrontational. Where did this original name for our ward come from? Well, Spider has an unusual ability to climb fences like a spider. That is why we are looking for a responsible home that will be able to take care of our athlete. If Spider were to live in a house with a garden, it would certainly have a fence that is not a wire mesh.

PL·Show original

Poza schroniskiem pochłonął go świat zapachów.

About Spider

What life with Spider looks like

Spider is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spider, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spider?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spider on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spider if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spider already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spider isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spider and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
