SPINA

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

SPINA was a Puglian stray... She was found on the street, very weakened and discouraged, dirty, malnourished and scared. She was rescued by fantastic volunteers. Then ADOTTAMI COL CUORE took SPINA in charge and took care of all her medical treatments. We didn't want to put her back on the street or leave her in a shelter, so we decided to place her in a five-star pension in the province of Mantova where the 'ugly duckling' became a lovely dog. According to the records, she was born in October 2012, but in our opinion the little one is a bit younger. Unfortunately, Spina has suffered who knows what when she was on the street and tends to bite if someone tries to touch her, but we don't exclude that we can find her a family that respects her character and helps her regain trust in humans. It would be wonderful to find her a mom and a dad who can offer her a home, preferably with a garden, in an extremely quiet environment. From Mantova, for a beautiful adoption, she can go anywhere in northern Italy. She will be dewormed, treated against parasites, vaccinated, spayed, tested and microchipped. ⛔⛔⛔We require completion of a questionnaire and a pre-adoption visit. Only adults and no time-wasters. ⛔⛔⛔For information, photos and videos, you can contact without obligation: ADOTTAMI COL CUORE ODV Giulia (3496403337) - Veronica (3496325688) Those interested can request information not only by phone but also via WhatsApp or email.

SPINA era una randagetta pugliese… Fu trovata in strada, molto provata e abbattuta, sporca, denutrita e spaventata.

About SPINA

What life with SPINA looks like

SPINA is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Adottami col Cuore in Andria (BAT).

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting SPINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SPINA?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Adottami col Cuore handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SPINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SPINA if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Adottami col Cuore will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is SPINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SPINA isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Adottami col Cuore early rather than rehoming privately; they know SPINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
