Spud

Male Β· Kitten Β· 4 months

Spud came into the centre due to welfare concerns in his previous home. When Spud was first at the centre, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with us humans and made that very clear with his hisses and low body posture. Since settling in with us, Spud has started to show some really promising signs that he wants to live next to people but still has some way to go before he is comfortable! Spud now likes having attention from people he knows every now and again and is looking for a patient and understanding home where he can continue to become confident with his carers and become a happy sociable cat. Unfortunately a cat from the same household as Spud has tested positive for Coronavirus which does mean every now and again he gets loose stools. Thankfully this is getting less and less with a sensitivity diet which we use to support him. Do you have the right home for this little guy to thrive?

About Spud

What life with Spud looks like

Spud is a small kitten cat waiting at RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months β€” most shelters arrange this before adoption.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spud, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spud?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spud on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spud if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Spud already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spud isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spud and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
