Stella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Our animal welfare workers report: Stella - a star of hope in the firmament, shining and powerful. The little, clever Stella was rescued in a large rescue operation from the city culling in Barlad, along with 32 other dogs, after local, communal authorities ordered the culling of approximately 200 dogs until the end of March 2025. When Stella was carried out of the culling by a helper, and the two animal rescuers cheered the rescued souls, her little tail was already wiggling on the arm of the employee. Stella is a little lady who likes to make her opinion known when one of the animal caretakers walks by the fence and ignores her. With female dogs and male dogs (Yusha, Livia, and Nox are in the same pen), the partially playful Stella shows herself to be agreeable, but she won't give up her share of the bread. Upon arriving at the safety of the rental shelter, the clever survivalist behaves in a friendly manner and enjoys being petted, with her own kisses not being shortchanged either, her wiggling tail always in action. Her animal caretaker describes her as a brave, little lady, full of energy and drive, saying "she is brave and nothing will stop her never." We do not know if Stella has a fighter's spirit, like the little furball that survived the culling. Stella can be easily lifted up, held, and cuddled, she searches with her super-sniffing nose all the pockets of the animal caretakers for treats and other scents. Stella shows no recognizable fears and wants to explore everything that comes between her paws, she is quick and restless. Who would like to give the curious, stormy snuggler on short legs a small, own dog bed where Stella can also rest? Update 13.03.2026: new pictures, new video. A club colleague was on site and reports: Stella is a little bundle of energy with a big heart for people. She immediately approached me curiously, sought direct contact, and allowed herself to be lifted up by me without a second thought. For a stranger, she has shown me an incredible amount of trust. 14.12.2025: new photos and videos 29.10.2025: new video 29.04.2025: new pictures and videos 20.04.2025: new video 09.04.2025: new video Please note:.

About Stella

What life with Stella looks like

Stella is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
