Adopt Stella

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Stella was rescued from the kill shelter with her sister by Rodica. When she was found there on April 7, she was severely emaciated – every rib was clearly visible. The loud, hectic, and stressful environment took such a toll on her that she could barely eat. Only a day later, Stella was able to move into a safe environment with Rodica. There, she quickly understood that she was in safety and began to eat again. From day to day, she gained strength and visibly regained her joie de vivre. When our board visited the shelter in late April 2026, we met a happy, lively female dog who had rediscovered her energy and enthusiasm for life. She enjoys cuddles very much and could hardly get enough of them. At the same time, she showed that she has a strong need for attention: when other dogs came too close, she growled at them to secure her affection. However, this behavior is not to be understood as aggression, but rather as an expression of her strong need for closeness and attention. Stella is a lovable female dog who is very people-oriented and likes to be in the center of attention. She actively seeks out human proximity and blossoms precisely when she receives affection and security.

About Stella

What life with Stella looks like

Stella is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glückshunde Schweiz in Glueckshunde.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glückshunde Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glückshunde Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glückshunde Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
