Sterretje

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Sterretje has found her home! Her story: Sterretje is a loving, gentle, and very people-oriented young female dog. At home, she is cuddly, clingy, and enjoys closeness and peace—she would rather spend the day close to her people and snuggling. She is generally house-trained and can currently stay alone for up to two hours. On the leash, Sterretje walks nicely, the collar and harness do not bother her, and she enjoys extended walks. Sterretje gets along very well with other dogs. Sometimes she can be a bit pushy, which is why a confident single-dog home could provide her with a good orientation. Sterretje is very sound-sensitive. In the outdoor area, she shows signs of being easily unsettled. The New Year's Eve fireworks greatly unsettled her and unfortunately led to noticeable setbacks. Loud or sudden noises like fireworks, flying geese, or passing lorries cause her great fear. In such moments, she retreats to her crate and needs time to feel safe again. Currently, it is difficult for her to maintain her usual sense of security outside and reliably apply what she has learned. What Sterretje needs most now are calmness, patience, and a low-stimulus environment where she can rebuild trust at her own pace—without pressure and without expectations. She is very open, affectionate, and attentive to people at home. Outside, she is still skeptical and reserved. Sterretje tolerates car rides, but they are not among her favorite activities. We do not see Sterretje in a household with small children, as the constant commotion would stress her out. For Sterretje, we wish for experienced, sensitive people who can give her time, security, and stability and guide her step by step. An ideal home would be a quiet one, preferably rural or quiet on the outskirts of town, where she can be gradually introduced to environmental stimuli. As Sterretje is likely to grow to a medium to large size, she will need appropriate physical and mental stimulation in the long term. Extended walks, shared activities, small cognitive challenges, or hide-and-seek games help her feel content and balanced. Attending a positively working dog training class would be a good and supportive starting point. Sterretje travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to her new home. She brings her EU pet passport with her and would be very happy to go to a loving foster home. Who will give this enchanting young pup a home full of calmness, patience, and loving companionship? Many thanks, Birgit—your nametag was the starting gun for a new life. As of: 30.01.

About Sterretje

What life with Sterretje looks like

Sterretje is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sterretje, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sterretje?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sterretje on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sterretje if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sterretje already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sterretje isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sterretje and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
