Adopt Sticz

Mixed Breed · Male

"Mom, look at what a beautiful dog! I want one like that too! Let's take him home!" During walks with dogs like Sticz, we often hear such statements. Usually from children or adults who think a Border Collie would fit perfectly in their block apartment with kids. After all, he's so lively, running around like a maniac chasing a thrown ball, so his physical activity matches our unexercised children. Plus, he's the perfect size, so what else could we want? Neighbors envy the nice, purebred dog, so… let’s take him? This is a common but sadly mistaken way of thinking about Border Collies. Border Collies are a wonderful breed, but they are also incredibly, but incredibly demanding. We mean more than just the need for intense physical activity. It's about more than that. It's about working with the dog, regularly training, and challenging the dog's mind. At the same time, it's about the dog's delicacy, attentiveness, and sensitivity. A dog whose immense intelligence is simply astonishing! That's who Sticz is. Because that's what we're talking about. Sticz, who ended up in the animal shelter precisely because his needs were not met. Sticz had a home. A loving one. One could even write that it was a "too loving" home. Because an excess of love is not the only need of this dog. He MUST LEARN. He MUST WORK. Because it's ingrained in his nature. Unfortunately, that wasn't provided for him in the home from which he was given up. And he was given up because he started biting. Biting is often a result of frustration that builds up in a dog when his needs are not met. When we don't give him tasks suited to this breed. It's not easy to spend time cuddling at home when you're a dog meant to herd animals on large stretches of wild nature. And that's where behavioral problems arise, leading dogs to shelters. In the animal shelter, Sticz revealed himself as an active, eager-to-obey dog. Sit, give a paw, roll… he picks up all commands instantly and happily. He loves playing with toys and playing with another dog. He's slowly learning to walk on a leash. However, we know that Sticz is not an easy dog. That's why we're looking for a responsible caregiver, preferably one familiar with the breed. A careful, sensitive, and willing-to-work caregiver. We're looking for someone who will love Sticza "despite" his looks, not "for" them. If you still want to meet Sticza, write, call. We're here to tell you more about him. This animal must be handled with a muzzle.

"Mamo, spójrz jaki piękny pies! Też chcę takiego! Weźmy go do domu!" On MUSI SIĘ uczyć. A oddany, bo zaczął gryźć. Opiekuna uważnego, wrażliwego i gotowego do pracy.

About Sticz

What life with Sticz looks like

Sticz is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sticz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sticz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sticz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sticz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sticz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sticz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sticz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
