Spring is approaching, bringing with it the mating season for unneutered cats. But let's prevent unwanted litters and a further rise in the population of so-called strays. The magic word is neutering, and it should happen as soon as possible! The animal welfare association Mosbach and its surroundings has planned a neutering action, made possible by the cat protection ordinances now in effect in almost all communities. That means unneutered outdoor cats—whether with or without a guardian—must be neutered, chipped or tattooed, and registered with Tasso/Findefix. How can individuals help? Report unneutered strays in the NOK to the email address. The following information is needed: the exact location of the cats (town, street), the number of cats, photos if possible, an interlocutor, and contact details for follow-up questions. The animal welfare association Mosbach (TSV) coordinates the capture action, transport to the vet, neutering, and subsequent return to the found location. If you wish to support the TSV in the neutering actions, please note this in your email. Please note: the TSV cannot cover any costs if a cat is brought to the vet without prior agreement and cost-coverage confirmation. Therefore, always agree with the TSV in advance! Last year, over 300 stray cats were neutered through the TSV, preventing much suffering, before the action had to be stopped in the fall due to precarious financial circumstances. As a charitable association that finances over 50% of its operations through donations, the TSV is grateful for any support! For example, by sponsoring (part of) the neutering of a kitten (costs on average 180 €) or a tomcat (costs on average 120 €).

Mit dem Frühjahr kommt auch regelmäßig die Haupt-Paarungszeit unkastrierter Katzen. Aber es soll erst gar nicht zu ungewolltem Nachwuchs und damit einer weiter steigenden Population an sogenannten Streunern kommen. Das Zauberwort heißt also Kastration und zwar möglichst schnell! Gedeckt ist die vom Tierschutzverein Mosbach und Umgebung geplante Kastrationsaktion durch die in mittlerweile in fast allen Gemeinden geltenden Katzenschutzverordnung . D.h., unkastrierte Freigänger – mit oder ohne Halter – müssen kastriert, mit Chip/Tattoo gekennzeichnet und bei Tasso/Findefix registriert sein. Wie kann der Einzelne helfen? Unkastrierte Streuner im NOK bitte an Mailadresse melden. Diese Angaben werden benötigt: genauer Aufenthaltsort der Katzen (Gemeinde, Straße), Anzahl der Katzen, Fotos, sofern möglich, Ansprechpartner und Kontaktdaten für Rückfragen. Der Tierschutzverein Mosbach (TSV) koordiniert im Anschluss die Fangaktion, Transport zum Tierarzt, Kastration und anschließende Zurückführung an den Fundort. Wer uns als kleinen gemeinnützigen Verein bei den Kastra-Aktionen unterstützen möchte, vermerkt dies bitte in der Mail. Bitte beachten: der TSV kann KEINE Kosten übernehmen, wenn eine Katze ohne VORHERIGE Absprache UND Kostenübernahmebescheinigung zum Tierarzt gebracht wird. Deshalb bitte immer VORHER mit dem TSV abstimmen! Letztes Jahr konnten über den TSV über 300 Streunerkatzen kastriert und damit viel Elend verhindert werden, bevor die Aktion im Herbst aufgrund der prekären finanziellen Situation gestoppt werden musste. Als gemeinnütziger Verein, der sich zu über 50 % über Spenden finanziert, freut sich der TSV über jegliche Unterstützung! Vielen Dank für die Unterstützung zum Wohl der Tiere!
