Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim)

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

This strong and previously nameless agile tomcat is about 3 years old and has been roaming a residential neighborhood for several months. Since he was neither chipped nor tattooed and the search for his owners via flyers and social media was unsuccessful, he was taken care of by the neighborhood. Since he was unneutered, the neighborhood jointly covered the costs for his castration. In late August, the tomcat severely injured his hind paw. The injury had to be treated and sutured by a veterinarian. For the duration of his recovery, he was housed in a domestic environment and was not allowed to go outside for more than two weeks. The costs for his veterinary treatment as well as the first vaccination were also covered by his dedicated finder. Since she unfortunately cannot take him in permanently due to age, we are now looking for a suitable home for him. The tomcat is a sturdy fellow at 7.7 kg, agile, playful and very self-confident. He knows how to appreciate a cozy sleeping place as well as his freedom - regular outdoor access is absolutely necessary for him. 🐾 During his recovery period, he showed himself to be somewhat irritable in the house at times and could also react aggressively. Therefore, he should not move into a household with small children. His compatibility with other cats is currently unknown. He also shows himself to be self-confident around dogs: he is not afraid and meets them quite impressively with bristled fur. 😅 We are looking for people who can offer a suitable home with outdoor access to a strong-willed tomcat and appreciate his self-confident nature.

What life with Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) looks like

Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Wetzlar in Wetzlar.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

How do I contact the shelter about Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wetzlar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wetzlar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wetzlar early rather than rehoming privately; they know Streunerchen (Nicht bei uns im Tierheim) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
