Adopt Streuni

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten

Adopter needed Streuni tomcat Streuni has been seen at the feeding station in Mehrum for about 2.5 years. Trapping attempts failed until November last year. Then the little man was finally caught, neutered and the missing eye as well as other injuries were treated. These probably resulted from an accident or abuse. His jaw was most likely broken and also the sinuses shifted. Streuni needs regular treatment and cleaning of the eye. Because of the misalignment of the jaw, he can only eat soft wet food and cannot fully close his mouth. Initially very shy, he has become accustomed to the feeding station, is very social with the other cats and even comes into the house in winter when everyone is asleep. back 27 February 2026/from animal shelter Peine 2587 2286 animal shelter Peine animal shelter Peine2026-02-27 16:54:-27 16:54:01Streuni Current informationPrerequisites for your visit:

About Streuni

What life with Streuni looks like

Streuni is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Peine in Peine.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Streuni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Streuni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Peine handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Streuni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Streuni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Peine will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Streuni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Streuni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Peine early rather than rehoming privately; they know Streuni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
