adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Struppi can stay forever! His story: Struppi had a tough life in Romania. He had to work, guarding a sheep herd and rounding them up. When he was no longer needed, he was abandoned in the forest. Luckily, we were able to rescue him. From the start, Struppi was friendly towards people and integrated into the pack, even though maybe just one more dog or a life as a lone prince would be more to his liking. In December, Struppi moved into a foster home in Germany and took the first big step into a new life. During the journey, he showed himself to be very people-oriented, friendly, and open. Upon arriving at his foster home, he was warmly greeted by the other dogs living there and found his new environment surprisingly quickly. Struppi is generally a bit unsure in new situations and needs time to adjust. But if given this time, he shows his true nature: a cheerful, loving sunbeam who greatly enjoys the company of his people. He greets his trusted people with wagging tails and sometimes even with a little barking "hello." Struppi would rather be everywhere and in the middle of everything instead of just being there. He especially looks forward to his daily walks. If wild animals are encountered, however, his hunting instinct kicks in – Struppi would most likely run after them curiously to get a closer look. With loving, consistent training, this can be worked on. Struppi is friendly and open with other dogs. Playing, running, and snuggling are definitely his favorite activities. He also shows himself to be social and friendly within the dog group. Since Struppi didn't get to know much in his previous life, he may react fearfully to sudden movements or loud noises at times. A quiet, patient home with understanding people would greatly help him gain more security and build trust. With love, time, and a sensitive upbringing, Struppi will develop into a wonderful companion – a dog who faithfully accompanies his people through life and is happy to be part of their everyday lives. Struppi is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. His EU pet passport is also in his luggage. Thanks, Jennifer E.! You gave Struppi the perfect name and thus the chance at a happy dog life. As of January 14.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 14.01.2026

About Struppi

What life with Struppi looks like

Struppi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Struppi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Struppi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Struppi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Struppi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Struppi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Struppi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Struppi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
