Stuart

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Stuart is a young dog, born in August 2024. He is an energetic and expressive puppy who needs a caregiver who is aware of his behavior, can read the signals he sends, and provide him with a calm, predictable environment. Stuart does very well on walks. He walks nicely on a leash, and joint outings can be a pleasant part of his daily routine. He also likes human contact and is happy to spend time with him. In a relationship with the caregiver, Stuart can be involved and interested in joint activities. At the same time, Stuart is a dog whose character and behavior require a responsible approach. He is reactive and his behavior can vary depending on the situation. When something does not suit him or he feels discomfort, he can clearly communicate his dissatisfaction. He is not a dog that can be taken without reflection in every situation - he needs a caregiver who will respect his boundaries and respond appropriately to the signals he sends. Particular attention should be paid to his relationships with other dogs. Stuart does not feel good in their company and may react aggressively. Therefore, the future caregiver should be aware that working on peaceful functioning in the presence of other dogs will be an important element of their life together. Due to his reactivity and way of communicating his boundaries, we do not recommend a home with children. Stuart will find it best with an adult or adults who will provide him with clear rules, predictability, calmness, and adequate exercise and activity. His attitude towards cats is unknown, so we cannot guarantee how he would behave in their presence. Stuart needs a person who will not expect immediate perfection from him, but at the same time will consistently and responsibly lead him through everyday situations. In the case of this dog, a calm approach, the ability to observe the dog's behavior, respect for his boundaries, and willingness to continue working are particularly important. We are not looking for a random home for Stuart. We are looking for a caregiver who is aware of his strengths and difficulties, is ready to build a stable relationship with him, and provide him with a safe, predictable life. Stuart is dewormed, vaccinated, flea-free, microchipped, and neutered.

Stuart to młody pies, urodzony w sierpniu 2024 roku.

About Stuart

What life with Stuart looks like

Stuart is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Stuart, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Stuart?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Stuart on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Stuart if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Stuart already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Stuart isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Stuart and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
