Sunrise

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Sunrise, a young male dog born in 2022 and about 45 cm tall, is a reserved, friendly Shepherd mix who has already had to develop a great deal of mistrust toward humans in his short life. When we first saw him, he was skeptical, unsure, and always ready to withdraw before anything could happen. But in the months since Busca, he has regained something precious: confidence. Sunrise can now be coaxed completely out of his kennel with food. For many dogs this would be a matter of course; for him it is a small triumph, a sign that he is beginning to believe in the world again. His eyes show that he wants to be curious, that he longs for closeness, even though he does not yet know how to allow it. Sunrise lives with two female dogs, with whom he interacts in a friendly and social way. They give him orientation and security, and you can sense that a confident dog at his side could help him become braver in the future. He is a dog who approaches carefully, step by step, glance by glance. One who quietly shows that there is much more inside him than he can display at the moment. Sunrise does not open up all at once, but in small, delicate moments that are all the more valuable because they arise from genuine trust. For Sunrise we are looking for empathetic, experienced people who respect his reserve and accompany him at his own pace. A foster home would be possible, as would a forever home that gives him security, calm, and loving guidance. Sunrise is a young dog who is only just beginning to see the sun again. Perhaps you are the person who will show him that trust is worth it. Sunrise is neutered and will be vaccinated, microchipped, and placed with a protection contract after a positive pre-adoption check. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each individual dog as accurately as possible. However, we would like to point out that a dog may behave differently in a new environment, with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs open up even faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in a new environment. They are meant to offer guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter, and what potential lies within it. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop in a positive direction.

About Sunrise

What life with Sunrise looks like

Sunrise is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sunrise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sunrise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sunrise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sunrise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sunrise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sunrise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sunrise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
