Adopt SUSHI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Abandoned: 12/02/2026 Breed: European Mix Maine Coon Gender: Female Microchip: 967000010644056 Born: 14/02/2021 Country: Belgium At the shelter since: 12/02/2026 SUSHI, an adorable female European Mix Maine Coon, is a sweet little cat who needs kindness, patience, and a calm environment to thrive. Shy at first, she becomes very affectionate when given time to warm up. With a gentle approach, she readily accepts petting and can become a very touching companion. Her strengths: Sensitive and delicate, she enjoys slow, reassuring gestures. Very fond of food — a real little engine to build a bond with her. Playful — once trust is established, she enjoys interacting and sharing small playful moments. Clean — she uses her litter box properly in a stable environment. Tolerates being alone — she can be left alone without difficulty. Comfortable in transport — she handles car trips well. Things to note: Shy: she needs a calm home, without excessive agitation. Variable socialization with cats and children: she has lived with children and several cats, but these situations have sometimes caused stress. She needs a special diet: Hills d/d. Her ideal environment: A calm home with patient and kind people. Outdoor access not essential: she has experienced the garden, but could adapt to a peaceful apartment. Gentle and respectful adopters, ready to give her time to open up. Not too many animals: a home with few or no other cats would be preferable for her balance. SUSHI is a quiet little gem who just wants to be understood and loved at her own pace. Behind her shyness lies great sensitivity and a genuine need for security. If you like soft, delicate animals and wish to give a second chance to a cat who is waiting for a comforting nest, SUSHI could be your heart's desire. Adoption is possible only with a "pet ownership permit" if you live in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us exclusively by phone at 02 204 49 50.

About SUSHI

What life with SUSHI looks like

SUSHI is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting SUSHI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SUSHI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SUSHI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SUSHI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SUSHI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SUSHI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know SUSHI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
