Suzi

Mixed Breed · Female

Appetite: Suzi is a very young female dog, likely in the boxer type. She is extremely comforting, but also very shy and emotional. She is initially distrustful of new people, but quickly becomes convinced. She becomes very excited emotionally, which is shown by jumping on people and sometimes grabbing their sleeves. It can be observed that she reacts more intensely to new people, so at first it is necessary to respect Suzi's space. With increasing ease, she learns to calm down from high emotions - a cuddly toy that she holds in her mouth helps her a lot. The beginning of walks can be chaotic. The world still scares her - traffic, loud sounds or new objects stress her. However, she slowly gets used to the surrounding reality, and with each walk, she handles it better. Her big advantage is that curiosity always wins over fear. In calm conditions, without stimuli (such as traffic), she walks on a loose leash, often seeking support from a trusted person. This is a dog taken in as part of an intervention. Before coming to our animal shelter, she probably did not go for walks and was always in the apartment. This explains her fear of new things and problems with going outside - a new environment, shelter stimuli, the world in general does not allow her to calmly take care of her needs on a walk. Suzi finds herself very well in rooms. As soon as she sees a couch, she curls up on it and immediately falls asleep next to a person. In rooms, she also shows her affectionate side, curling up on knees and demanding affection. She usually reacts emotionally to other dogs - barking tightly, but sometimes just calmly observes - if the appropriate distance is maintained. She can be shy in direct contact, so if she were to live with another dog, introductions should be done carefully. For Suzi, we are looking for a home: - stable, which will provide a sense of security - in a quieter area, relatively far from street traffic - which is ready to gradually introduce Suzi to the world, step by step - without children - optionally with another dog (preferably calm, so that it does not excite Suzi).

About Suzi

What life with Suzi looks like

Suzi is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Suzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Suzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Suzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Suzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Suzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Suzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Suzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
