Svea

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Svea has found her forever home! Her story: Probably, Svea was one of the saddest female dogs at the Public Shelter in Baia Mare. Shy and mistrustful, she was delivered there together with her puppies. She bravely fought for her babies, but only the little Toni survived. For a long time, she sat sadly, fearfully, and without hope in the kennel, until her foster mom discovered her and the big day of travel arrangements came. Through the love and patience of her foster home, the pretty Svea is gradually overcoming her insecurities and regaining trust in people. She shows cuddly, human-oriented, and loving behavior towards her foster mom, and even strangers can increasingly approach her with the security of her person. She loves the only existing dog over everything and orientates herself by him. And she also shows a good relationship towards the existing cats. However, the bustling and hectic life is not for the gentle and sensitive female dog, which is why she needs a quiet home. As she is extremely smart and has an incredible sense of smell, she can detect wild animals long before her fellow animals, a training in tracking would be suitable for her. Svea would be delighted with a quiet and patient forever home. It would be advantageous to have a relaxed and sovereign only dog, by which she can orient herself. There should be no small children in the household. Svea is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated in her foster home. Her EU pet passport is already in her travel bag. For an adoption fee of 500 Euro, Svea can be adopted. A big thank you also goes to Bastian H., who took over a monthly sponsorship for Svea. As of: 03.04.

Stand: 03.04.2025

About Svea

What life with Svea looks like

Svea is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Svea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Svea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Svea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Svea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Svea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Svea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Svea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
