MaleApprox 3 months old on arrivalArrived with us 28th August (60 days ago)Being looked after in Dove Holes, BuxtonLog number 01880019We realise not everyone is in a position to adopt a companion, so why not take a look at our virtual adoption scheme …..Three beautiful rabbits came into the RSPCA animal hospital, very vulnerable and poorly after being left to fend for themselves, the owner was in hospital and the house repossessed, that’s when the rabbits were found. Including a seven-week-old who was close to death. After a couple of weeks they came to one of our wonderful foster homes.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.A few words from his foster Mum:Sven is a lovely, happy confident bunny who is looking for a home where he can get lots of attention and also a neutered bunny friend. He will happily come and sit on your knee and lick you, he loves humans but he’s definitely in need of a bunny friend to be with!He was very underweight alongside the other bunnies that were surrendered and it was unclear if any of them would pull through but luckily he has and is now thriving. He looks to be a lionhead with maybe a little bit of Rex as the other two bunnies that were with him have more of a Rex coat.He was neutered on the 20/10/26 and his DOB is estimated to be around 17/5/26.He is used to the resident dogs and will suit an outdoor or indoor home. He has been vaccinated and microchipped.Rabbits require a minimum of 60 square feet ground floor space to live in 24/7 with plenty of enrichment including a dig box and shelters. About Sven

What life with Sven looks like

Sven is a young rabbit waiting at RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire and Buxton in United Kingdom.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire and Buxton handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sven if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire and Buxton what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Sven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire and Buxton directly what is included and what Sven still needs.
What happens if Sven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Macclesfield, SE Cheshire and Buxton early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
