Sven came to our animal shelter as a stray cat. Even upon his arrival, he showed clear symptoms of feline upper respiratory disease. Despite prompt veterinary treatment, the infection has not completely subsided and has become chronic. Although Sven exhibits only few obvious signs of discomfort, the effects of the cold are still audible in his breathing. Towards humans, Sven remains very reserved and shy. When entering a room, he usually retreats into a protected hiding spot and prefers to observe what’s going on from a safe distance. He needs time to build trust, and at present, people still seem highly suspicious to him. Currently, Sven is living together with our tomcat Feli in the quarantine room. In doing so, he clearly sets boundaries for the younger cat and knows exactly what he wants. We’re looking for a calm home for Sven— one with experienced and patient owners who don’t expect an immediately affectionate cat. Anyone who gives Sven the chance to settle in at his own pace will offer him the opportunity to finally find peace and start building trust.

Sven kam als Fundkater zu uns ins Tierheim. Bereits bei seiner Ankunft zeigte er deutliche Symptome eines Katzenschnupfens. Trotz schneller tierärztlicher Behandlung ist die Infektion nicht vollständig abgeklungen und hat einen chronischen Verlauf angenommen. Zwar zeigt Sven nur wenige offensichtliche Beschwerden, bei seiner Atmung sind die Auswirkungen des Schnupfens jedoch weiterhin hörbar. Menschen gegenüber ist Sven noch sehr zurückhaltend und scheu. Beim Betreten des Raumes zieht er sich meist in eine geschützte Höhle zurück und beobachtet das Geschehen lieber aus sicherer Entfernung. Er braucht Zeit, um Vertrauen aufzubauen, und Menschen sind ihm derzeit noch sehr suspekt. Aktuell lebt Sven gemeinsam mit unserem Kater Feli im Schnupferraum. Dabei zeigt er dem jüngeren Kater durchaus seine Grenzen auf und weiß, was er möchte. Für Sven suchen wir ein ruhiges Zuhause bei erfahrenen und geduldigen Menschen, die keine Erwartungen an eine sofort zutrauliche Katze haben. Wer Sven die Chance gibt, in seinem eigenen Tempo anzukommen, wird ihm die Möglichkeit schenken, endlich zur Ruhe zu kommen und Vertrauen zu fassen.
