adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sweet Pea has found its own home! Her story: 82140 Olching. Sweet Pea could travel to her foster home in late November! The sweet and clever female dog originally came from the large shelter in Baia Mare, Romania. Sweet Pea is a loving little dog girl without any princess airs. The black beauty with the cuddly fur is approximately 2 years old and has a shoulder height of 40 – 45 cm. Towards humans, Sweet Pea is still a bit reserved, but warms up quickly when met with friendly and patient kindness, and begins to enjoy cuddles and closeness. The "sweet pea" has already arrived in her foster home, together with two family dogs. She is very attentive to her "foster mom," but the foster dad also finds her great. Although she is still quite reserved and observes everything with a certain distance, she is super interested and wants to be more involved in daily life. She shows no aggression and has not barked much yet. Sweet Pea, affectionately named "Pi" by the foster parents, is capable of forming a bond, and she shows this more and more every day. We wish for her to arrive in her new home in peace and to be lovingly and only with positive reinforcement and patience taught everything important that a little female dog should know. Life in the house will no longer be entirely new to her, and so she will surely quickly adapt to her Forever Home. House training, for example, has worked from the start! Long walks are also no longer a problem, and encounters with people and dogs have so far been uneventful. Sweet Pea is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has an EU pet passport and will be released after a positive adoption.

About Sweet Pea

What life with Sweet Pea looks like

Sweet Pea is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sweet Pea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sweet Pea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sweet Pea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sweet Pea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sweet Pea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sweet Pea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sweet Pea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
