Adopt Szczyl

Mixed Breed · Male · Baby · 2 months

SHY IS LOOKING FOR A HOME! Just a short time ago, he was afraid of his own shadow… Literally. When he first came to us, he hid under blankets and only ventured out when no one was around. He ate quietly, eyed everything suspiciously, and every sound was a threat to him. There was no aggression in him, only fear. But that's all in the past. Today, Shy wags his tail and his rump happily at anyone who might pet him. He's come a miraculous distance. From a withdrawn, suspicious cat to a friend who can melt your heart with a glance. This three-year-old burmese had a very tough start. Before he came to us, his health was in a sorry state. He was very thin and scrawny, and giardia wouldn't give up on him for a long time. We fought for weeks to finally gain weight and feel safe. Today, he's clean, well-groomed, neutered, and ready to find his true home. What you should know about Shy? He loves other cats – the company of purring companions really helps him. He's vaccinated and neutered, and his FIV/FELV tests are negative. Due to prolonged stress and neglect, his intestines still require care – for at least two months, he needs to eat gastrointestinal food. The new caregiver must give him time. Szczyl has already shown that he can trust – but he needs patience and understanding. For sure, a new home will be stressful for him. If you have a lot of heart and a peaceful place that Shy could call home, give us a call!

SZCZYL SZUKA DOMU! Dziś jest czysty, zadbany, wykastrowany i gotowy, by znaleźć swój prawdziwy dom.

About Szczyl

What life with Szczyl looks like

Szczyl is a puppy/kitten mixed breed animal waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Szczyl far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szczyl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szczyl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szczyl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szczyl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szczyl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szczyl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szczyl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
