Szellő

Mixed Breed · Female

It's hot! Despite the shady kennels, milk crates filled with water and puddles, our shelter animals also find it hard to cope with this weather. So here comes a little Szellő, maybe it will help to better endure this great heat. Szellő is a female dog born in June 2015, and has been with us for four years now. Although she is an incredibly kind, good-hearted, affectionate and calm girl, who still has a trace of a labrador, no one has shown interest in her. But life with her would not be difficult. We would not say she is a high-energy dog, if the owner wants to stop and sit down during a walk, she sits down, if the owner continues walking, she also starts moving. She is not the one who hangs from the chandelier or destroys sweets, but rather the one with whom you can watch a movie, takes on the role of the main caregiver in the kitchen and gladly takes on the role of warming up the bed on cold winter nights. Unfortunately, there is no applicant yet. Perhaps it scares people away that she was born in June 2015? But she still has plenty of kilometers left, and even more love. Whether it's an adult or a child, a small puppy or a large breed, she doesn't mind. Everyone is welcome. We are very much looking forward to the phone ringing because of Szellő. You won't leave us alone, will you?

About Szellő

What life with Szellő looks like

Szellő is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Luca Kutyamenedék in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szellő, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szellő?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Luca Kutyamenedék handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szellő on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szellő if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Luca Kutyamenedék will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szellő already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szellő isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Luca Kutyamenedék early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szellő and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
