Szila

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

SILA (Szila) joined our foundation family at the end of March. She was rescued from Turkish hell. She survived on the streets of Tunceli thanks to her friendly nature. She was fed by kind-hearted people. This continued until the introduction of the feral law no. 5199, which condemned stray dogs to extinction. Today, the streets of Tunceli have been cleared of strays, most of them did not survive. SILA was lucky - she didn't die and didn't end up in the Turkish State Animal Shelter, because she probably wouldn't have left there. She was saved by the organization that rescues dogs from Turkey "Save Turkish Dogs", which first placed SILA in Dog Village in Turkey, and then transported her over 3000 km. and expanded our foundation family. SILA is a large dog (about 50 kg). Her health condition was good. Only her teeth were in a deplorable state - all with a large amount of tartar as well as gum inflammation. She was bitten, as evidenced by the tooth marks on her head and body. At first, she keeps her distance, because she was beaten and chased, but she is a friendly dog towards older and younger ones. She tolerates cats and other dogs (after previous introduction). She needs to be taught to walk on a leash, because she had nothing to do with it.

Sila to duży pies (ok. 50 kg.).

About Szila

What life with Szila looks like

Szila is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
