Sziszó

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

We received a request for help from the Foundation Fans for Animals. The dog, who had lived on a leash all his life, was reported in a bad condition to the 16th district. Unfortunately, it quickly became clear that Szyzó needed immediate medical attention due to a severe uterine prolapse. Thanks to a police procedure, he was taken out and immediately taken to Juhász Small Animal Clinic. After a few days of strengthening, he underwent a life-saving surgery, from which he has already recovered. He was given the name Sziszó here. Born in 2014, a large-sized female dog with Caucasian characteristics. His initial distrust has improved a lot, but he still comes hesitantly for a caress. We are constantly trying to rebuild his damaged soul with many activities and weekend walks. This dog has never experienced a happy life before, but he can give a lot of joy and happiness to his beloved owner. We are looking for a home for him where he can be a full-fledged family member. We are looking for an owner with knowledge of the breed, with experience with dogs. We do not give him for guarding purposes or as a garden decoration! Dog school is definitely mandatory! Sziszó is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and wants to move into a new, permanent family.

About Sziszó

What life with Sziszó looks like

Sziszó is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires extensive rehabilitation due to past trauma and neglect. Mandatory dog training school required.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sziszó, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sziszó?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sziszó on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sziszó if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sziszó already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sziszó isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sziszó and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
