Szonár

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Szonár - approximately born in 2018, large-sized, gray-brown speckled, huge bull-like, cropped-eared female dog, brought from Péteri by a breeder who gave up on her. Her face is missing due to an old injury and there are fresh bite marks on her, which we treat daily. Extremely thin, she eats multiple times a day. Having left behind a previous not very happy life, she has recovered, so we are now moving forward towards a new life with help into a permanent family. Incredible friendly, she does everything for a little love and petting. Upon entry, her heartworm test was positive, but thanks to the treatments, the control test was negative. She has recovered! We are looking for a loving owner for Sonár, who can help her forget all the bad things she experienced in her previous life and prove to her that life is beautiful and that she is also a beloved companion to humans. We only look for a home where she can be a full-fledged family member. We do not give her for garden keeping. Szonár is vaccinated, microchipped and can be adopted after sterilization.

About Szonár

What life with Szonár looks like

Szonár is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Recovered from heartworm treatment, facial scarring from old injury, requires indoor-only living

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szonár, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szonár?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szonár on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szonár if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szonár already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szonár isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szonár and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
