Szparag

Here is cat Szparag, who loves everyone! Who will love him for good and for bad? Who will give him a home? In the 2022 asparagus season at our shelter, an exceptional asparagus cat appeared… A country kitten with a scruffy look, a bundle of misfortune – a white Szparag! From the first glance, it was clear that it didn’t lead an easy life. Despite barely being able to stand on its legs, it approached humans, rubbed against them, and sought closeness – and it immediately won our hearts! Szparag undoubtedly earned the reputation of the most sensitive furball in the shelter! After a visit to the vet, the list of kitten’s ailments turned out to be long: starting with poor-quality fur, skin abrasions, missing some teeth, ear problems, a severe cold that led to general weakness, significant weight loss and coldness, and diarrhea caused by an intestinal infection. We immediately began treatment, and… after a few months, Szparag changed beyond recognition! Skin issues were resolved, and a beautiful, fluffy white fur grew back, and thanks to proper nutrition, the little cat gained weight. We thought we were getting a straightforward case when a nasty change appeared at the edge of its ear. A quick surgical intervention, and Szparag lost a piece of its ear. But what of it – it doesn’t detract from its charm! The little cat is absolutely charming, climbing onto volunteers’ knees, backs, and shoulders, snuggling in as much as it can! To that, it sweetly snores, which is unfortunately a consequence of a chronic upper respiratory tract inflammation. Szparag loves everyone: people, other cats, and even likes to play with a dog. It’s incredible that this slowly recovering kitten, which fought so many health issues, has so much joy in life and such a desire to interact with humans! All volunteers try to give the kitten as many caresses as time allows, but it’s not enough. And it’s sad to see it in the cage. Szparag is about 7 years old, neutered, FIV and FeLV tests negative, vaccinated, not vaccinated due to health issues. Continued treatment and appropriate nutrition are necessary due to its delicate intestines.

Szybka interwencja chirurga i Szparag stracił kawałeczek uszka. No i smutno w klatce . Konieczna kontynuacja leczenia i odpowiednia karma z racji delikatnych jelit.

About Szparag

What life with Szparag looks like

Szparag is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Szparag, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Szparag?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Szparag on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Szparag if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Szparag already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Szparag isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Szparag and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
