SzücsJenő

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

A help request arrived recently from the Tokerti clinic, stating that Jenő's owner had died a month ago, and since then, the dog has been wandering the village with a chain around his neck, even robbing chicken coops. The villagers wanted to lynch the poor dog, but there was no solution for him. Due to lack of space, we first asked for a photo to publicize it, but since he was in immediate danger, we managed to find a place quickly thanks to fast logistics. Very kind, probably he was beaten before because he flinches at sudden movements. His fur is gray on his neck from the chain; he has been on a chain all his life, not even getting a collar. Hunger drove him to walk around the village with his chain loose in search of food. Because Jenci's escape has become a bad habit, we are looking for a place for him with secure fencing. Vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, he can move to a new family. Vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, he can be adopted! Attention, the dog is located at the NOÉ Animal Shelter's Szergegyi branch. You can inquire about him at our address! More pictures HERE!

Figyelem a kutya a NOÉ Állatotthon szergényi telephelyén található. About SzücsJenő

What life with SzücsJenő looks like

SzücsJenő is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: History of being chained, requires secure fencing due to escape behavior, needs patient rehabilitation from neglect trauma

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting SzücsJenő, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SzücsJenő?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SzücsJenő on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SzücsJenő if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SzücsJenő already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SzücsJenő isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know SzücsJenő and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
