Tabaluga

Male · Young · 1 year

Tabaluga arrived at our shelter at the beginning of April in very poor condition. He suffered from severe cat flu, had herpes viruses, had not been neutered, and was infested with numerous fleas and ticks. In the first weeks, we had to provide a lot of medical care so that this little guy could recover. Today, Tabaluga has overcome everything well and has developed into a fit, lively, and especially cheeky young tomcat. He is cuddly, playful, and curious, and brings a lot of good mood with him. For his future, we wish him a home where he can enjoy outdoor access again after an appropriate settling-in period. He would certainly be happy to have a playmate—whether a tomcat or a cat—but this is not a prerequisite. Tabaluga has now been neutered. Due to his herpes viruses, regular check-ups are recommended. These can of course be accompanied by our animal shelter and our veterinarian. Anyone who wants a young, friendly, cuddly, and playful tomcat by their side should definitely meet Tabaluga. He is already waiting for the people with whom he can spend the rest of his life. This animal is not yet neutered/spayed.

About Tabaluga

What life with Tabaluga looks like

Tabaluga is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Plattling in Plattling.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tabaluga, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tabaluga?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Plattling handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tabaluga on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tabaluga if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Plattling will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tabaluga already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tabaluga isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Plattling early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tabaluga and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
