Tadzio (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Name: Tadzio Born: End of April 2021 Gender: Male dog Breed: Mixed breed (possibly Corgi-Mix) Size: Will probably not be very large (son of Challa) Foster home: Tadzio, our little mood-lifter, was finally able to move into his new home, which has already been tested with short-legged dogs. We wish the whole family lots of joy with the little man. The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. The little man lives in a foster home near Mainz, together with 4 adult dogs, and he's doing great. He loves cuddles, then he lies down and shows his belly to signal that he'd like it to continue. He's more of a little thinker and observes first before deciding. He also likes cuddle toys and hoards them on his pillow. He is house-trained, travels well in the car, and walks quite politely on a leash. In the field, he can already run without a leash, as the recall is already working well. For a treat, the little guy would almost do anything. He's a clever guy who also enjoys learning. Older children are no problem. He hasn't had any experience with cats yet. With his doggy buddies, he also stays quite content at home alone. Tadzio has soft, cuddly fur, like a little teddy bear. His legs are short but sturdy, and his body is a bit stretched out. He probably got a lot from his mother. We are looking for people who will patiently show Tadzio what life has to offer now, as an individual dog with an existing dog family. Due to his body structure, there should be as few stairs as possible in the new home. If you're interested in this great dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image.

Name Tadzio Geboren Ende April 2021 Geschlecht Rüde Rasse Mischling (evtl. About Tadzio (vermittelt)

What life with Tadzio (vermittelt) looks like

Tadzio (vermittelt) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tadzio (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tadzio (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tadzio (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tadzio (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tadzio (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tadzio (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tadzio (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
