TAF

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

TAF, back at the shelter after 12 days since being adopted for 3 years; I am back at the shelter after several months of adoption and almost 3 years of shelter life; I returned due to my masters separating and no longer wanting to take care of me… 🙁 I am a handsome fellow, gentle with humans, endearing, affectionate, and playful, loving lots of cuddles, human presence, and treats. I am calm on walks but have a hard time with the heat! I am a bit of a scaredy-dog, so not a city dog who gets stressed by the noise and hustle of the city. I am looking for patient, gentle, and calm adopters (hopefully the last ones), without young children or other animals, and living in a quiet place. I will need to be monitored closely in the beginning because if I get scared, I can sometimes react, especially in the stressful environment of the shelter. In fact, I am much more relaxed outside of the shelter; I was a super dog when in foster care, with no particular flaws, I can even be alone without a problem; it just takes time to get to know me and to regain my trust. Come meet me, I still have all my love to give and I deserve the true happiness of a warm, calm, and gentle home life! Given my initial mistrust, several walks/visits to the shelter will be necessary before taking me home to create a first bond. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children. Note: this animal can be reactive.

About TAF

What life with TAF looks like

TAF is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA Lagord / La Rochelle in Lagord.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting TAF, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TAF?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Lagord / La Rochelle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TAF on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TAF if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Lagord / La Rochelle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TAF already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TAF isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Lagord / La Rochelle early rather than rehoming privately; they know TAF and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
