Adopt Taiyo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Age: to be provided. Gender: male. neutered: yes Character: friendly, calm in the presence of people, very well tolerated by other dogs Size: approx. 48 cm In shelter since: April 2026 Hello, I am Taiyo! May I tell you a little about myself? I am not one to push to the front. I am one of the gentle and calm souls in the shelter. When people pass by my kennel, I observe first. In this shelter in Romania, there are many dogs, many voices, much unrest. I have not been here long, but I have learned to adapt and find my place in the group. When the people at their visit got to know me, I was cautious. Not out of fear, but because I simply wanted to understand who I was meeting. But when they stroked me, I could enjoy it. Very quietly. Very carefully. Perhaps for a brief moment, I simply felt safe. I am a dog who doesn’t want to do anything wrong. One who prefers to observe before trusting. One who tries not to draw attention. Perhaps that’s why I am often overlooked? My black fur makes me unremarkable among all the other dogs. But there is a heart within me that longs for love. While I don’t wish for much, a home with people who see me. Who understand that quiet dogs have just as much to give as the loud ones. Perhaps somewhere in Germany, that place is waiting for me. Perhaps somewhere, there is someone who doesn’t look for the dog who barks the loudest — but the one who hopes quietly. Interested? If you are interested in Taiyo, please fill out our interested parties form (), or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Taiyo is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Ingrid P.P. has taken on the sponsorship for Taiyo, and thus ensures a full bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!.

About Taiyo

What life with Taiyo looks like

Taiyo is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taiyo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taiyo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taiyo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taiyo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taiyo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taiyo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taiyo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
