Tajga

Female · Young · 3 years

A female dog of the Tatra Shepherd type, unfortunately, came to us very matted, the mats on her body prevented her skin from breathing and her free movement, so she was shaved. She was very distrustful and hidden deep in her kennel. Tajga did not know a leash - she never went for walks and certainly nothing good had happened to her at the hands of humans... She is a young dog who makes huge progress every day. Walks are definitely her favorite part of the day, once there was only fear but now joy has appeared. Tajga loves caresses, scratching behind the ear and spending time together, every day she reveals herself as a very nice dog, wanting to cooperate with humans. Tajga is a glutton and willingly eats treats, so bribery will be much easier. It must be remembered that dogs of this breed fulfilled guarding functions, so they quickly become attached to their caregivers and can defend their territory. In the case of Tajga's adoption, we require at least 2 introductory walks so she can feel more comfortable in the presence of new people. She does not tolerate other animals, so we are looking for her home as a single dog. Not for a home with young children due to her anxious character.

About Tajga

What life with Tajga looks like

Tajga is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Fundacja Straż Obrony Praw Zwierząt Borek in Poland.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adopters usually cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tajga, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tajga?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Straż Obrony Praw Zwierząt Borek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tajga on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tajga if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Straż Obrony Praw Zwierząt Borek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tajga already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tajga isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Straż Obrony Praw Zwierząt Borek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tajga and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
