adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Takoda has found his people! His story: The approximately 5-month-old Takoda was found on the street in Romania with his sister Sinja and was brought to a private shelter in Cluj. He was then flown to a foster home in Bavaria at the beginning of July and is waiting there for his family. Takoda means something like "Friend of all" – and he has certainly lived up to this name so far. He is open and friendly to all people – whether men, women, or children. He likes everyone and loves to be petted and cuddled. He also gets along well with the dogs in his foster home and could also be rehomed with another dog. Currently, he is still a bit greedy and worried that another dog will take his food, but as soon as he realizes that he no longer has to worry about hunger and gets regular food, that's no longer a problem. Takoda is a curious, open, and cheerful little dog who is sure to still grow a bit and probably will be of medium size. Driving is already going quite well, as is walking on a leash, although training in leash handling is still needed. At night, he already sleeps through the night well. In the office, Takoda is a very relaxed and quiet dog, sleeps a lot, and is simply content when he can be there. The little man loves to run in the garden, roll in high grass, and play with his toy. Takoda is now approaching puberty and is looking for a family that will accompany him through this time with patience and empathy, and also go through thick and thin with him. A dog training class would also be great for him, as he has always been eager and quick to learn. Takoda can be visited in his foster home. He is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has an EU pet passport. Thank you Anja for giving Takoda his beautiful name! As of: 19.07.

Vielen Dank Anja! Du hast Takoda seinen hübschen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 19.07.2025

About Takoda

What life with Takoda looks like

Takoda is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Takoda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Takoda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Takoda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Takoda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Takoda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Takoda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Takoda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
