adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Tamino is unfortunately severely ill and remains in his Romanian foster home… His story: Cluj, Romania. From the fearful little tomcat to the loving cuddler, a crazy transformation that our Tamino has laid down! The handsome white-gray-brown striped Tamino is approximately 2 years old. He was found on the streets of Romania, like countless others before him. Alone, hungry, and always on the lookout for potential dangers, he roamed around, searching for food and shelter from the cold. What Tamino has gone through and experienced in his year, we don't even want to imagine. Fortunately, the "human helping hand" also came to his aid, and he was taken to a foster home in Cluj, from where he now waits for his forever home in a loving family. Tamino was always a very shy and fearful little boy who hardly let anyone touch him and preferred to hide somewhere. This has fundamentally changed in the last few weeks, albeit not in the most beautiful way. Unfortunately, the sweet little fighter suffered kidney failure, from which he miraculously recovered. Tamino had to spend a long time at the vet, with infusions, and on a diet, but he is alive and has recovered, which is the most important thing. During the time he spent in the cage, he turned into a real "cuddle fighter." He always seeks the proximity of his caregivers and wants to be cuddled and petted all the time. Yesterday, he was shy and fearful, but today cuddling and petting are in order, one could almost say he is expressing his gratitude for living and being so well cared for. Tamino loves other cats, so it would be nice if he had a plush playmate, but his diet must be guaranteed. A free roam is nothing for Tamino, but he would be very happy with a cat-safe balcony from which he can catch fresh air and observe birds. The balcony is, however, not a must. He will need special kidney diet food for the rest of his life, which is readily available, and his blood values must be checked regularly at the vet, for which he will be rewarded with a lot of love, closeness, affection, and gratitude! Tamino will be microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas when moving into his new home and was tested negative for FiV and FelV. He has an EU pet passport and will be waiting for positive contact! Do you want to give Tamino your heart and receive a lot of love and gratitude in return? Then we look forward to contact! Many thanks, Stefanie W.! You gave Tamino his beautiful name and thus his identity!. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Tamino

What life with Tamino looks like

Tamino is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tamino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tamino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tamino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tamino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tamino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tamino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tamino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
