Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Tammy shows herself at her foster home as an incredibly nice and friendly female dog. She is compatible with other dogs but particularly enjoys the attention and affection of her people, which could make her a happy single dog. She has already mastered walks well on a leash and her operation went wonderfully. Now she just needs to build up some muscle and enjoy her new life. Tammy also masters car rides completely without a problem, and even at the vet, she simply shows herself to be loving, patient, and friendly. She wants to please and makes it easy for her people. Tammy can already be left alone for hours without any problems. We got to know Tammy during our animal protection trip to the killing in Nyíregyháza. The visit was very emotional – and Tammy captured our hearts right in the middle. An unassuming female dog with no chance of ever leaving that place alive. A female dog who probably never experienced anything good and had long lost all hope. Perhaps it was exactly that look, that quiet hopelessness, that wouldn’t let us go. Right before the killing center closed, we took Tammy in. And Tammy is simply a dream. The approximately 6–7 year old female dog can’t yet fully grasp her good fortune. She is so modest and unpretentious, she is happy with every meal, every kind word, and every small attention. Step by step, she begins to understand that her life can finally be beautiful. Tammy is about 40 cm tall and weighs around 16 kg. She is compatible with other animals and even understanding children would certainly not be a problem. She would also be especially well suited for sturdy seniors who enjoy pleasant walks and a faithful companion. For Tammy, we wish for a loving home where she can finally belong – with people who show her that she is now safe and loved forever.

DE·Show original

About Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪

What life with Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 looks like

Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. in Biedenkopf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hundehilfe Hinterland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tammy ♀ 🇩🇪 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
