Tana ID No.: 1038158 Breed: Alano-mixed breed Age: approx. 09/2022 Gender: female Shoulder height: approx. 59 cm Neutered/Sterilized: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Tana – adventurous female dog seeks strong human Tana (*approx. 30.09.2022, approx. 59 cm) is a super sweet Alano-mix female dog – her look simply makes you want to cuddle her face! Tana is a truly lovable little mouse, and our team often catches her in the cutest moments, whether she’s splashing in the pool or snuggling in her bed. Tana arrived together with her friend Teddy. However, the two live separately at the animal shelter because the pair proved too strong for our staff to manage. Since Tana has a gentler temperament than Teddy, a calmer companion was sought for her. She currently lives with the older Mastin male dog Leon. After Teddy, Tana was tested with several male dogs and behaves very differently toward dogs than she does toward people. She plays exuberantly and energetically, enjoys her free time, and likes to put both paws on her companion’s back to keep watch. She shares her bed and food without any issues and shows no resource guarding problems at the animal shelter. A good, stable male dog would be an ideal partner for her. We’ve tested her with cats, and she passed this test well. Tana is initially somewhat shy around new people. It only takes a few minutes before she reveals her true self: full of love, life, and joy—like a happy toddler. She is very submissive toward humans. At the end of the day, when it’s time to settle into her bed, Tana asks for affection, lies down, and offers you her paw to receive attention and love. Tana is a very clever female dog who still needs to learn a lot, but with loving guidance—and perhaps a stable male canine companion—she will adapt perfectly. Tana has lots of energy and wants to be a great adventure buddy. She loves playing in water and is highly entertaining! She urgently needs a primary caregiver who can physically handle her—especially during the initial period while she learns to walk calmly on a leash, realizing she’ll now get more than just one walk per week and will receive the physical exercise she needs. We hope Tana finds a home without small children, as she is like a big baby herself and could accidentally knock over little ones. Tana is looking for an experienced person willing to show her the world with patience, consistency, and love, and to provide her with the necessary physical and mental stimulation. Whoever offers this strong yet endearing female dog a home will gain a fun-loving, loyal, and affectionate partner for all of life’s adventures. Tana has an EU pet passport and is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas for travel arrangements. About Tana

What life with Tana looks like

Tana is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
