Tango

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

by Cattery | Jul 27, 2026 | Cats, Liverpool, Male, Cats, Liverpool, Male This young lad ended up with us due to his owner becoming unwell. Initially, he stayed with their neighbour, but they could not keep him as he didn’t get along with their cats. Not only is Tango a very handsome young man, but he’s also very friendly and curious. He likes to greet people with head bumps and expects you to scratch his chin until he’s happy. He also seems to like it best if someone is present with him when he eats his meals. He still eats well alone but he certainly enjoys a nibble whilst someone watches over him. Whilst he is a very friendly cat, he does get a bit overstimulated and can have some cattitude! He will let someone know when he’s had enough or when they’re doing something he doesn’t like. Due to this, we think he’s best in a home with no kids or much older kids. As Tango didn’t get along with cats in the past, it would be best if he goes to a household where he will be the only cat.We don’t know how he would react to a dog so it would also be ideal if he went to a dog-free home. He is big and beautiful, and has the roundest, chubbiest cheeks you have ever seen. Tiger is a quiet boy, and does take some time to trust, but with a bit of patience and understanding, he could become your best friend. He will need a quieter home with no young children, but older, sensible children should be fine, and probably would not like to live with a dog. He previously lived with another cat, so provided introductions are done slowly and carefully, he should be able to again. He has been neutered, and fully vaccinated, and has tested negative for fiv/felv. Exclusive merchandise available direct from the rescue. Don't miss out, follow the link to make your purchase today.

About Tango

What life with Tango looks like

Tango is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tango, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tango?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freshfields Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tango on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tango if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freshfields Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tango already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tango isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freshfields Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tango and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
