Tantoo

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Tantoo has found her home! Her story: Tantoo, the pretty female dog who constantly seems to be smiling, finally wants to arrive. As mysterious as her name is, so is her origin. Unfortunately, we have no information about it. Tantoo was brought to us by our animal rescuer Celia. And now, the pretty female dog is waiting to be seen by her people. Tantoo weighs 27 kg and is 56 cm tall. She belongs to the medium-sized dogs. She has beautiful dark, light brown fur and a white chest. Tantoo walks well on a leash and is a rather calm female dog. She is very friendly and appears very balanced. She gets along well with other dogs, but cats have not yet been tested. Tantoo is looking for a home where she can settle down in peace. We do not know if she is familiar with life in a house, so one should not be discouraged if she makes the occasional mishap. She is looking forward to long nature walks and lots of cuddles. Once she has settled in, Tantoo would also not object to a visit to dog training classes, because despite her good behavior on the leash, she still has a lot to learn. With her approximately 3.5 years of age, she has already gone through her childhood and puberty, but her whole life is still ahead of her. If you have a dog bed free for the pretty lady and are looking for a more calm dog, Tantoo is ready for everything. She is already sitting on her packed suitcase. Tantoo travels microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. Her EU pet passport is also in her luggage. She would also be very happy to go to a foster home. Thank you, Silvie S.! You gave Tantoo this unique name and thus an identity. Status: 17.01.

Stand: 17.01.2025

About Tantoo

What life with Tantoo looks like

Tantoo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tantoo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tantoo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tantoo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tantoo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tantoo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tantoo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tantoo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
