Adopt Tao

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Tao arrived at the dog pound, and we just couldn't stop thinking about him, how to rescue him: an elderly Mastiff at the dog pound where he had already arrived feeling depressed. Some ingredients that weren't going to make things easy for him there... Tao arrived very, very thin, but with affection and good care, he recovered and is perfect in every way. This big fellow is very noble, sociable, and super affectionate and is compatible with other dogs and children (what little we've tested him with cats, also).???? Tao is happily adopted, he behaves superbly at home... and needs to find a family as incredible as he is, for him: if it's yours... what are you waiting for? Adopt him, ask about Tao!???? If you can't adopt, help us spread the word, share, give a like… You never know which "share" will lead them to their home.

¿a qué esperas? ¡Adoptáos, pregunta por TAO!???? About Tao

What life with Tao looks like

Tao is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tao, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tao?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tao on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tao if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tao already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tao isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tao and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
