Taras

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Taras spent the first two years of his life in a fenced yard. Due to changed circumstances of his caretaker, he ended up on a chain. The chain was a big stress for Taras, as he could not understand that it limited him. When he came under our care, we arranged for castration, but during the procedure at the vet, an incredible fact was noticed: Taras had a chicken bone stuck in his gum. It had been there so long that it already caused necrosis of the tissue and tooth. Therefore, after a few weeks, we scheduled a dental procedure for him. He quickly recovered and became a relaxed dog who most of all needs human company. He expresses this by jumping a lot. Simply, he can't tell any other way that he desires love and warmth, which he had been deprived of before. Jumping decreases over time when getting used to the new environment. Taras is suitable for people who understand that every dog needs its time to get used to a new environment. Special features: medium size, suitable for people who are often at home, does not require long walks, accustomed to children, occasional howling, accustomed to living with dogs, walks on a slip lead, suitable for living in a house with a fenced yard.

SL·Show original

About Taras

What life with Taras looks like

Taras is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Zavod Muri in Vransko.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇮Adopting from Slovenia

Frequently asked

Adopting Taras, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taras?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zavod Muri handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taras on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taras if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zavod Muri will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taras already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taras isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zavod Muri early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taras and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
