Taro

Male

Taro is a young, gentle, and extremely sensitive mixed breed dog who arrived at our shelter after being found in the Gmina Poświętne area. He is still intimidated by his new surroundings and is cautious, as if he is still trying to understand what happened and if he can feel safe. Despite his fear, he is increasingly seeking comfort in the presence of humans. He needs a calm voice, patience, and someone to show him that humans can be a source of safety, not a cause for concern. Taro has a great need for closeness. We believe that with the right person, in a quiet home, and without haste, he will begin to open his little heart. He may not be able to show it yet, but he would love to have someone he can trust. Taro needs time, patience, and love. In return, he can give someone the most beautiful thing - trust gained step by step and a bond that will be unique precisely because it will be born from care and mutual security. Taro is waiting for a person who will not demand anything from him, but will calmly show him that from now on, things can be good. DON'T BUY - ADOPT! A DOG WHO ENTERS OUR SHELTER IS COVERED BY A 14-DAY QUARANTINE. If he is not picked up by the owner during this time, the dog will be vaccinated, chipped, neutered, and we will look for a new guardian for him. The condition for adoption is to fill out a questionnaire available on our website, agree to a pre/post-adoption visit, and sign an adoption contract. Nowe miejsce bardzo go onieśmiela. Taro potrzebuje czasu, cierpliwości i miłości . About Taro

What life with Taro looks like

Taro is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Fundacja Przyjaciele Braci Mniejszych in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Przyjaciele Braci Mniejszych handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Przyjaciele Braci Mniejszych will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Przyjaciele Braci Mniejszych early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
