adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Tattoo is approximately 5 years old, standing about 46 cm at the shoulder and weighing around 15 kg – a manageable size. He is a very friendly mixed-breed male dog with a short tail and a unique look. His dense, slightly wavy fur is reddish-brown and is complemented by white accents. With his sturdy build and folded ears, he stands out – a handsome fellow with an air of confidence. Not only is he visually striking, but he is also a true gem in character. Tattoo is a loving, well-socialized, and calm male dog who greatly enjoys the company of his people. Cuddles are his favorite – whoever shows him affection gets it back in double. Food is a high priority, making him a good student during training. Regarding training: On the leash, Tattoo already does well. The complete package of "living-with-humans" still needs to be learned by Tattoo. In new or unfamiliar situations, he shows a bit of insecurity, so he seeks out sensitive people who can explain the world to him step by step and give him security with patience and care. Tattoo was rescued by one of our colleagues, who lovingly nourished him. He currently lives on an outdoor foster placement where he gets along well with other dogs. Whether he is also compatible with cats has not yet been tested. Tattoo is ready for his new home and will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas before departing. After a positive EU pet passport check, he will be packed into his suitcase. He would also be very happy with a foster home. Due to his short tail, he unfortunately cannot travel to Switzerland. Tattoo and you? It would be forever! 🙂 Many thanks, Fabienne! You gave Tattoo his awesome name! Date: 13.04.

🙂 Vielen Dank Fabienne! Du hast Tattoo seinen tollen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 13.04.2025

About Tattoo

What life with Tattoo looks like

Tattoo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tattoo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tattoo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tattoo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tattoo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tattoo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tattoo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tattoo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
