adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Tau has found a home! His story: Tau – a name that stands for pure joy in life, a dash of mischief, and fur that reminds you of a small, shaggy polar bear! It's a great fortune that this young male dog from the public shelter in Zalau could be saved, where unfortunately, killing is still happening. While his siblings came directly to us, he was adopted on-site. Unfortunately, Tau had the misfortune of not having a permanent home – only two weeks after his adoption, he landed back in the public shelter. Now he is safe, and we gave him the promise that he won't have to return to the public shelter but we'll find a family for him. With his approximate height of 48 cm and weight of 20 kg, Tau is a real sunbeam, who will probably still grow a bit but will remain medium-sized. Tau is just entering the exciting phase of puberty and he masters it as a very playful, silly, and absolutely self-assured fellow. He loves being stroked and with treats, he can be wrapped around your finger! Although he wasn't a big fan of the leash at first, he now runs well on it – Tau loves being with people and is in no way insecure. He also gets along excellently with his fellow animals, whether that also applies to cats, we don't know. What Tau now needs is a home with dog experience: people who can give him structure and loving consequences to show him that he can let go of the big responsibility of watching and relax. He needs stimulation for his mind and body, in other words, long walks, hide-and-seek games, and tasks that challenge his smart head. Ideally, his future home has a securely fenced yard where he can burn off his energy. Tau travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, together with his EU pet passport. After a positive But also a foster home would be a win for this people-oriented young dog. Are you ready for the adventures that this wonderful, self-assured polar bear boy brings and do you want to foster his wonderful qualities? Thank you SmillaMila for giving Tau an extraordinary name and thus an identity. As of: 28.11.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 28.11.2025

About Tau

What life with Tau looks like

Tau is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tau, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tau?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tau on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tau if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tau already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tau isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tau and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
