Adopt Tchoupie

Mixed Breed · Unknown

"Tchoupie" is a dog who has difficulty showing his best side in the kennel. His behavior can impress people who pass by him. Yet, once he gains confidence, he reveals a lovable personality and a strong bond with those who take the time to get to know him. If you want to discover him a bit more, you will see that he is actually a very sensitive dog who will be very close to his future owner. Tchoupie has already been in contact with other dogs at the shelter. He is rather social but shows resource guarding and may growl at other animals of the same species if there is food or toys around him. Therefore, he will prefer to be the only animal in his new home. A socialization program has already started at the shelter, but this process will need to continue after his adoption. He will need time and patience to adapt to different environments, especially in the city. His future adopter will need to be ready to continue training sessions to help him thrive. Due to his sensitivity, placement without children or with mature teenagers who understand the dog's need for quiet will be preferred. Sometimes a bit shy, Tchoupie still has a lot to discover to better manage his stress, especially regarding noises and new situations. A stable and reassuring living environment will therefore be essential for him to calm down. Very active, he will need an adopter who can offer him daily walks to burn off energy. He is also playful and, once he is confident, he shows himself to be friendly and close to humans. Several visits to the shelter will be necessary to build a strong bond before adoption. Tchoupie is waiting for a patient person, ready to accompany him in his socialization journey and to give him the love and attention he deserves.

About Tchoupie

What life with Tchoupie looks like

Tchoupie is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tchoupie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tchoupie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tchoupie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tchoupie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tchoupie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tchoupie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de Bordeaux et du Sud-Ouest (SPA 33) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tchoupie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
