Ted

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Young Β· 3 years

Ted is an absolutely beautiful 3 year old boy with so much personality. He can be incredibly affectionate but always on his own terms. Ted can sometimes lash out without warning and may bite extremely hard. Because of this, he needs a calm, experienced adult only home with: * No young children * No elderly or vulnerable people * Someone experienced in understanding feline behaviour * Plenty of patience and respect for his boundaries Sadly, Ted has been returned to the rescue after his previous home didn’t work out. Since coming back, we have already seen some encouraging improvements, and we truly believe that, with the right person, he can continue to make progress. Ted isn’t a β€œdifficult”

About Ted

What life with Ted looks like

Ted is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Clay County Cat Care in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ted, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ted?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Clay County Cat Care handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ted on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ted if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Clay County Cat Care will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ted already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ted isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Clay County Cat Care early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ted and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
